The Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové is one of the Czech Republic’s top educational and research centres in medicine, founded in 1945 and proudly integrated within Charles University – one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe. Our mission is to educate future physicians and health professionals through rigorous, clinically‑focused training and cutting‑edge research.
CU MED HK is a smaller but modern educational institution that has more than 1900 students, aprox. 20% international students.
We have been offering full-time General Medicine and Dentistry programmes in English since 1992. Over the past three decades, more than 900 international graduates from 57 countries have earned their medical or dental degree here – and many now work successfully as licensed professionals across Europe, North America, Asia, and beyond.
We maintain a high academic standard through a comprehensive habilitation and professorship appointment process — ensuring that our teaching staff includes only highly qualified professionals with strong scientific credentials.
The Faculty offers a six-year Master's degree programme in General Medicine (MD), a five-year Master's degree programme in Dentistry (MDD). Students are taught in theoretical, preclinical, clinical and preventive disciplines. The theoretical departments give students the basic knowledge necessary for a proper understanding of morphological, functional and pathological processes in the body. The departments, clinics and divisions of the University Hospital mainly introduce students to the basic methods of investigation, laboratory methods, differential diagnosis and principles of treatment. Great emphasis is placed on practical teaching.
Life at our faculty extends far beyond lectures and labs. We host a wide range of social, cultural, and sports events — including scientific outreach like Researchers’ Night and mental health awareness weeks, gallery exhibitions, and a full calendar of student‑led activities. Our close links with the University Hospital in Hradec Králové and active student associations ensure a supportive, dynamic environment that enriches both academic growth and personal development.
