If you decide to study at CU MED HK, Hradec Kralove will become your second home for the next few years.
Our faculty is not the only college in Hradec. It is also home to the Faculty of Pharmacy - our colleagues from Charles University, with whom we will soon share the new campus. You will also occasionally see students in uniforms in our faculty building, they study in programmes shared with the Military Faculty of Medicine of the University of Defence. And then, of course, there's the University of Hradec Kralove. The students are an essential part of Hradec Kralove.
The cost of living won't let you down. Student life isn't free, but compared to the capital city of Prague, the cost of living in Hradec is much lower. You can live in our halls of residence or in shared flats, of which there are plenty in Hradec. We recommend that you start looking for housing well in advance so you have plenty to choose from. For our international students we guarantee a place at our dormitories for the first year. We also have a canteen, so you won't starve to death.
Forget sitting for long hours on public transport. Hradec is an incredibly compact city. You can walk everywhere in a few minutes, and bike sharing is also popular. The city's bus and trolleybus network works well, but you won't need it. If you like to get outdoors and get some fresh air, Hradec is a great choice. The jogging and in-line tracks in the urban forests are absolutely perfect for sports.
Support for international newcomers is robust and welcoming. The Welcome Office of the region offers assistance with relocation, helps integrate students into local life, and provides English-language resources such as transit information and cultural programming in partnership with local institutions.
Studying medicine requires more preparation than other fields, but that definitely doesn't mean you'll be lying in books from morning till night. We have some tips for you. Our Department of Physical Education will give you the opportunity to maintain and improve your physical and mental fitness throughout your studies. If you are into sports at a higher level, there are plenty of sports clubs to choose from in Hradec. There is plenty to cheer for in Hradec. There is a premier league in hockey, football, women's basketball or even volleyball.
Not into sport? No problem! You can visit the exhibition at the Museum of East Bohemia, the Gallery of Modern Art or even directly at our faculty Gallery Na Hradě. For a reward after the test you can go to a movie or theatre. There is the modern multiplex Cinestar and art cinema Bio Central, the Philharmonic, the Klicper Theatre or even the legendary Drak Theatre. Some institutions even offer discounted tickets for students. Festivals such as Rock for People, Jazz Goes to Town, Majáles or a whole range of popular food festivals and other events that take place in Hradec practically all year round. So don't miss any of them. And if you prefer to relax in quiet just try one of Hradec Králové's saunas right by the river.
